    CHICANO ART (3) A historical survey of Chicano visual art forms, their creators within the U.S., their relationship to Mexican art and artists of the 17th through 20th centuries, and their pre-Columbian antecedents. Intensive study and appreciation of various media including religious altars, street murals, public posters, photography, lowrider art, pano art, and tattooing. Critical analysis of Chicano icons including the Virgin of Guadalupe, symbols of the United Farmworkers, Zapata and Villa, and pre-Columbian motifs. Field trips required.
