This course is the first in a series designed to prepare early elementary, elementary, and middle school teachers to teach mathematics. Understanding of mathematical concepts and processes is stressed. Topics include introduction to problem solving, counting, geometric shapes, the four basic operations on whole numbers, number theory, and introduction to fractions. The use of manipulatives and technology will support learning and teaching in these and other topics studied. Enrollment is only open to students in early elementary, elementary, special education, junior high, and middle school programs.
