Students are assigned to the Aid unit or Engine and will work regular shifts every third day. Duties include responding to actual fire and medical emergencies, station maintenance, apparatus inspections and quarterly SCBA certification and extrication exercises. Students will study maps of the fire district, multi-company operations scenarios, incident command, fireground safety practices and accountability. Prerequisite: 103, 122, 120 and 125.

Advanced fire-incident-related experience, engine company organization, engine configuration, small tools and minor equipment, basic hose practices and lays, use of protective breathing apparatus, response, maps, communications and fore apparatus driving practices. Prerequisite: 201.

NFPA 1035: Standard for Professional Fire and Life Safety Educators Level I. Focus is on fire risk and injury prevention through education. Students will learn to research, plan and present an education program. Prerequisite: none.

Covers uniform fire code, uniform building code, flammable liquid, and other codes relating to fire prevention and safety. Prerequisite: none.

5.00 Credits
Implementing IMS, Radio Communications and Incident Reports, Pre-Incident Survey, Rescue and Extrication Tools, Vehicle Extrication and Special Rescue, and Hydrant Flow/Operability. Course uses the Fundamentals of Firefighting Text for Firefighter II and is the first course of two that leads the student towards IFSAC Firefighter II certification. Prerequisite: IfSAC firefighter I and feST 112, or permission from the instructor.

Hydrant Flow and Operability, hose tools and appliances, foam fire streams, ignitable liquid and flammable gas fire control, fire detection systems, construction materials and building collapse, and fire cause and origin. Course uses the Fundamentals of Firefighting text and is the second course of two that leads the student towards IFSAC Firefighter II certification. Prerequisite: feST 210 and IfSAC firefighter I certification.

Firefighter written test-taking techniques, firefighter oral board techniques and practices, resume writing and preparation for Firefighter tests. Course will assist students in the Fire and Emergency Services Technology program to learn valuable skills necessary to be competitive in obtaining a career in the fire services. Prerequisite: feST 112.

Rescue methods, rescue tools, ropes and knots, high angle rescue techniques, raising and lowering rope systems, moving and lifting heavy objects, and basic urban search and rescue techniques. Course meets some objectives of the Rescue System 1 curriculum. Prerequisite: feST 111, 120, or instructor's permission.

Confined space and trench rescue equipment and techniques. Includes learning proper safety techniques and ropes/knots necessary to conduct confined space and trench rescue. Course teaches students basics about both confined space and trench rescue and goes through equipment set-up procedures. Course meets requirements for NFPA 1671: Awareness and Operations level for Confined Space and Awareness level for Trench Rescue. Prerequisite: feST 215.
