Study of the materials management function with emphasis on the role of materials management in business, inventory management, value analysis, make or buy decisions, receiving, stores and traffic. Prerequisite: none.

Formation, classification, interpretation, discharge and administration of industrial and governmental contracts through the use of seminars and case studies. Prerequisite: none.

Analysis of the functions of management, including planning, problem solving, decision making, organizing, leading, directing, motivating and controlling. Special emphasis will be on current management issues including the importance of valuing diversity. Students will be expected to employ critical thinking skills to analyze and address typical workplace challenges. The case method, role playing, practical applications and exercises will be used. Prerequisite: eligible for enGl& 101 or WRIT 101. Completion of 101 or WRIT 101, is strongly recommended.

An overview of human resource management in the workplace with emphasis on planning for human resources needs, finding and hiring employees, testing, training and compensation, and evaluating performance. Contemporary issues in Human Resource Management will be discussed. Prerequisite: none.

An introduction to the context and institutional framework of international trade and investment. A study of diverse cultural, political and competitive environments around the world and special problems of the international firm in specific functional areas of business. Special emphasis on the major international trading partners of Washington State. Prerequisite: buS& 101, or buS 101.

A capstone course that integrates accounting, data processing and business concepts to create solutions to complex business problems. Teambuilding, ethics and presentation techniques are considered. Ability to use a spreadsheet program is required. NOTE: BUS 289 should be taken by business and accounting students who are within two quarters of graduation. Prerequisite: Completion of two of the following with "C" or better: buS& 101 or buS 101, ACCT& 201 or ACCT 201, ACCT 203.

Introductory level mechanical drafting. Includes traditional manual tool usage, lettering, plane geometry, shape descriptions and projection theory. Prerequisite: none.

Introductory level Architectural Drafting. Traditional manual drafting theory building course. Step-by-step creation of residential construction documents, including floor plans, site plan, roof plan, elevations, foundations, building sections and detailing. Prerequisite: CAD 101 or instructor's permission.

Introductory level Computer Aided Drafting. Includes: file management, coordinate systems, draw commands, editing commands, basic dimensioning, layer management and plotting. Prerequisite: experience with Windows operating system strongly recommended.

Intermediate level Computer Aided Drafting. Includes: creating block symbols, external reference file management, assigning attributes, isometric drawing, introduction to 3-D solid modeling, layout viewport management and basic toolbar customizing. Prerequisite: CAD 140 or instructor's permission.
