The purpose of the course is to acquaint you with the constitutional requirements of the 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments regarding police conduct and the lawful procedures police may employ. I will assume you have a general knowledge of the history, nature, purpose and scope of the criminal justice system. Consequently, we will examine the role of the police in our criminal justice system in light of Supreme Court cases that bear on police investigation, search, detention, interrogation and arrest practices. Prerequisite: CJ 101 and/or LS 101.
