PEH 153: Lifeguard Training

Prerequisite: Persons are eligible who have passed their fifteenth birthday, are in sound physical condition, and have completed the following prerequisite:: 1) fifteen years of age on or before the beginning of the course, 2) swim 500 yards continuously using each of the following strokes for at least 50 yards: crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke, 3) surface dive to minimum depth of 9 feet and bring a 10 pound diving brick to the surface, 4) surface dive to a minimum depth of 5 feet and swim underwater a minimum of 15 yards, and 5) tread water for one minute. Instruction leading to qualification for American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification. AC
