(4 credits) Teaches fundamental principles of physics. Covers mechanics, thermodynamics, wave phenomena, electricity and magnetism, and selected topics in modern physics. Prerequisite MTH 163 or equivalent. Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.

(5 credits) Teaches principles of classical and modern physics. Includes mechanics, wave phenomena, heat, electricity, magnetism, relativity, solid state, quantum physics, and nuclear physics. Includes extended coverage of selected topics. Prerequisites for PHY 231: MTH 175 or divisional approval. Prerequisite for PHY 232: MTH 176 and PHY 231 or divisional approval. Lecture 4 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 6 hours per week.

Teaches political institutions and processes of the national government of the United States, focuses on the Congress, presidency, and the courts, and on their interrelationships. Gives attention to public opinion, suffrage, elections, political parties, interest groups, civil rights, domestic policy, and foreign relations. Lecture 3 hours per week.

Studies the role of the Licensed Practical Nurse. Covers legal aspects, organizations, and opportunities in practical nursing. Designed to assist the student in preparation for employment. Prerequisites: PNE 162 and PNE 156. Lecture 1 hour per week.

Studies etiology, symptoms, prescribed treatment, and experiences in the nursing care of patients with selected disorders. Selects learning experiences to correlate related patient care with classroom instruction whenever possible. Provides observational experiences when available. Student must be admitted into the Practical Nursing program. Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.

Focuses on the principles of nursing relevant to assisting the individual during the growth and development process across the life span. Prerequisites: PNE 151, PNE 155, PNE 161, PNE 173, HLT 130. Lecture 4 hours per week.

Recognizes emotional needs of patients. Provides knowledge of the role that emotions play. Enables students to understand their own behavior as well as patient behavior. Prerequisites: PNE 162 and PNE 156. Lecture 1-2 hours per week.

Focuses on nursing situations and procedures necessary to assist individuals in meeting special needs related to human functions. Student must be admitted into the Practical Nursing program. Lecture 2-4 hours. Laboratory 6-15 hours. Total 10-17 hours per week.
