ELED 304: Teaching Reading and Writing in the Primary Grades

Elementary education majors learn to use research information to teach initial reading skills effectively. This course is designed to provide strategies and activities that promote reading, writing, listening and speaking practices that have been successful in actual classrooms. The essential elements identified in this course-phonemic awareness, phonics/word study, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills, as well as the writing process for students in K-3.
