Students complete a research project during a 10-week externship. Prior to the start of the externship, students submit a plan to investigate the medical problems of a specific patient population, characteristics of a medical disorder, and/or various treatments for particular disorders. During the externship students refine their research question, write a review of the literature, and complete a research proposal that includes appropriate methods, possible research subjects or populations, and discussion of probable outcomes. Immediately following the externship students give an oral or poster presentation. Prerequisites: PA720-760, PA915, and PA916. Summer. Pass/Fail only. 3 credits.
