Active engagement in science/health experiments/presentations and procedures within a laboratory approach and inclusion strategies for physically handicapped students will be discussed and presented. The students in this field experience will interact with children who are learning to read and will record observations on pupil behaviors, needs, and methods of teacher responses and instruction based on PA Academic Standards. A pre-service 15 hour practicum experience for students in districts that have a diverse (ethnically, racially, and economically) student body. Seton Hill students will get the opportunity to observe, tutor, and co-teach in this diverse environment. This course is required for candidates in all certification areas. Prerequisite: ED201. Study and practice of the methods of teaching foreign languages in elementary,middle,and high schools. Includes historical and philosophical theories of second language acquisition. Emphasis is on the development of a variety of approaches and materials for effective instruction and evaluation according to American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and PA Academic Standards.
