Provides students with the keyboard touch system they need to effectively input data information on various keyboards. General concepts of data entry and experience with data entry projects.

A hands-on introduction to the core features of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. In Word, students will create, edit, and format documents. In Excel, they will create worksheets with labels, values and formulas, and create graphs and charts. They will prepare, edit and format PowerPoint presentations.

This course includes the reinforcement of basic computer operations taught in OA 110 (Professional Keyboarding I), and increased emphasis on speed and accuracy development, and intermediate business correspondence formatting, utilizing word processing software.

OA 110 with a grade of C or higher, or Credit-by-Examination for OA 110

Provides student with the use of 'touch techniques' to effectively enter alphanumeric data on the computer keyboard. Operation of special function keys and the touch method on the 10-key numeric keyboard. Familiarization with the formatting of letters, memorandums and short reports.

Study of the principles and procedures of various records management systems - alphabetic, numeric, geographic and subject filing. Hands-on experience with records control and record/information management through the creation, use, and maintenance of a database. Popular database applications software will be utilized.

Development and refinement of language facility and usage through complete and comprehensive coverage of grammar and language mechanics via printed and electronic resources. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will demonstrate competency in the digital workplace in both the spoken and the written word.

High-level production simulations in rough-draft format consisting of memorandums, reports, manuscripts, letters, tabulations, outlines and accounting and legal documents. WordPerfect advanced functions used. Continued emphasis on speed building. Exit keyboarding speed requirements - 46 gwam.

Communication theory and application. Contemporary writing techniques in memos, letters, and research reports. The human relations aspect of oral and written communications. Employment communications, telephone usage, voice mail and e-mail.

OA 161 for OA majors, all others, ENGL 101

A comprehensive course teaching students the latest developments in office information technologies, software, spreadsheets, data bases, presentations, faxing documents, e-mail, document transfer, integration, and networking.
