There are a variety of factors that contribute to successful management of volunteers, including understanding demographic factors, motivating factors, and competencies.

The rapid changes influencing society and organizations have increased the need for people with expertise in such fields as human relations, organizational structure, strategic planning, financial management, informational technology, conflict resolution, and team building.
