REL 290: ST:End Times.
3.00 Credits
Lebanon Valley College
The never-ending threat of terrorist attacks, rumors of war in Korea and Iran, increasing tensions between major world religions, forecasts of environmental catastrophes! Each day the nightly news increases our anxieties and for those of us from western religious traditions, turn our thoughts toward the end times. Christian novels based on End Times scenarios abound. Secular authors and directors seem compelled to deal with the topic. The subject is everywhere! This class will look at the ancient traditions that have brought us to the current theories of the End Times and examine recent novels and film that depict these apocalyptic events. The material has always been with us and will continue to abound. The intent of this class is to allow us to look critically at these materials and discern what messages they might have for us today. 3 credits.
