This is an introductory course designed to give the student an appreciation of the literary and fine arts. Through music, drama, the visual arts and poetry, the course aims to develop the artisitic understandings, skills and values of students. Part practicum and part theory, it offers a multi-sensory approach to the aesthetics experience. At the completion of the experience, the student should have a better understanding of how art works; and what art means to society and to the individual. It is hoped that ""The Arts and the Imagination"" will inspire students to choose additional higher-level courses in the arts, thus enriching their college careers. Prerequisite: ENG 101
