CV 141: Cardiovascular Clinical Practicum

Clinical application of learned electrocardiographic techniques with observation in both invasive and cardiac ultrasound laboratories will be provided. During this four-week clinical period, students are required to write clinical case studies which will be presented at the weekly campus conference. Upon completion of this initial clinical experience, the student is required to select either the 12-month Invasive CVT curriculum of study or the 12-month Cardiac Ultrasound curriculum of study. Students must achieve a minimum grade of 2.5 in all prerequisite cardiovascular technology courses, with demonstrated clinical competence in this course, in order to continue studies in the second year of the program. 32 hospital hours per week with 3 lecture hours per week for 4 weeks. Prerequisites: BLS for healthcare providers certificate; CV 140; BIO 107, 107L, 108, 108L, 111, 111L; CHM 111; MTH 136; PHA 103; PHY 111.
