Project Management, the capstone course, utilizes an Information Systems Project Management Taxonomy to provide the student with an integrated theoretical and practical perspective of technology and information systems as process and functional components of an organization. Emphasis is on the roles that people, information, information systems quality, and technology play in the application of the nine Knowledge Areas and five Process Groups that comprise the Common Body of Knowledge for Information Systems Project Management. Particular emphasis is placed in the five Process Groups- initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing- for information systems projects that are needed to provide the various types of information systems which provide a competitive advantage in both inter-organizational and international environments and yet serve the needs of both the users and management.
