This course is designed to introduce students to Canadian Art. Art as a product of its time and place will be the central theme throughout the course. Art as a way a culture perceives and expresses itself will be a secondary focus. Students will have an experiential learning experience as part of a field trip to Canada. They will learn to make presentations to the class. They will use the facilities of the smart classroom and PowerPoint and/or similar software. (Spring). Liberal arts. Prerequisite: CAS111 or POI.

Besides analyzing each film for film language, structure and texture, general and specific differences between Canadian film and the typical "Hollywood formula" film of the same genre will be explored.
