Classroom instruction in ethnographic techniques combined with extended field trip throughout the rural region of Southern Mexico, including Chiapas and Oaxaca, visiting a variety of environments (cloud forest, rain forest, Pacific coast mangrove regions, coffee-growing highlands), communities and indigenous peoples. Independent residence in rural indigenous community for ethnographic research. Enrollment limited to students participating in the Southern Mexico Program.
