This course provides an in-depth exposure to key issues in HIV/AIDS research including molecular biology and the lifecycle of the virus, transmission and pathogenesis, immune responses, antivirals, microbicides and vaccines, reservoirs and attempts to cure HIV infection. This 1 credit hour course will be offered on Fridays, from June 3 to July 29, 2011 in Microbiology and Immunology conference room 2-11211. The emphasis is on an understanding at the molecular level of microbial pathogenesis, including colonization, invasion, antigen variation, and toxin production and mode of action.
