    This seminar will deal with the history, theory, and creation of art, popular culture, and mass media from a contemporary perspective. Theoretical and historical texts and a spectrum of electronic arts and media will be investigated.     This course is an introduction to fieldwork and ethnographic methods in support of artistic creation. The class will guide students through interviews, participant-observation and documentation at various field sites to produce diverse creative projects ranging from ethnographic essays to video to installations.
