    (1/2 day afternoon both sessions) If you are budding photographer who sees the world through your own lens, then Photo Editing and Animation could be for you. In this course, students will work to enhance their own digital images. Using Adobe Photoshop participants will learn to use the powerful tools offered by the software to enhance their digital images. By combining these editing images with adobe Flash, students will be exploring the possibilities for graphic design and advertising that this tool hold. Students will work to shoot and create their own multimedia advertising campaign.

    CAD is a professional design tools used by architect and engineers to design and modify real-life building and machines. As part of this course, students will learn the various tools offered by this powerful piece of software. Along the way students will work to design objects and machines of their own imagining. As a final project, students will work to plan and design their "dream house" using the skills learned in CAD.

    In this workshop, ten to fifteen high achool students will work together to produce a short documentary film on a subject of their choice. Over the course of two weeks, we will work through the film-making process from the ground up. Participants will engage in a hands-on-film-making experience; writing, filming interviewing, editing, and recording. The workshop will offer aspiring young film-makers and writers; an authentic collaborative experience with the goal of producing an original documentary film. A screening of student work by academy members and parents will close the workshop and remain available ont he academy web site.

    Lights, camera, action! Be part of an exciting news studio environment this summer. Learn the behind-the-scences mechanics of how news broadcasts are put together. You will have the opportunity to work in a state-of-the art television studio and to try out all the roles from scriptwriter to newscaster, camera person, stage manager and editing director. Final productions will be screened by the academy members and parents on the final day of the program. All final pieces will also be available on the academy website.

    Are you a writer? Do you like to tell stories? Turn your stories into a modern masterpiece. During this workshop you will learn how to write and tell your tale digitally using images, music, narrative and voice. Learn how to combine age-old storytelling with modern-day technology and digital media. Stories will come to life and be shared with the academy community on the final day of the program. All digital pieces will also be available on the academy website.

    Students will experience an extended placement at a mental health or social service agency serving individuals with chemical dependency issues. Emphasis will be placed on the organization of the agency and on services provided. Also, students are required to attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a college field supervisor and complete log reports. Note: Students must register for both a lecture and a lab. 1 Lecture, 4 Lab, 2 Credit Hours. Corequisite: CDC 203. Pre or Corequisite: PSY 102.

Emphasis will be placed on understanding normal development and on communication skills. Also, students are required to attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a college field supervisor and complete log reports. Note: Students must register for both a lecture and a lab. 1 Lecture, 4 Lab, 2 Credit Hours. Corequisite: CDC 204. Pre or Corequisite: PSY 134.

Note: Students must register for both a lecture and a lab. 1 Lecture, 8 Lab, 3 Credit Hours. Corequisite: CDC 103. Pre or Corequisite: BHS 242.

Emphasis will be placed on understanding atypical development, treatment interventions and on special issues in the field of alcohol and drug abuse. Also, students are also required to attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a college field supervisor and complete log reports. Note: Students must register for both a lecture and a lab. 1 Lecture, 8 Lab, 3 Credit Hours. Corequisite: CDC 104. Pre or Corequisite: BHS 201.

    A special learning experience designed by one or more students with the cooperation and approval of a faculty member. Proposed study plans require departmental approval. Projects may be based on reading, research, community service, work experience, or other activities that advance the student's knowledge and competence in the field of chemical dependency counseling or related areas. The student's time commitment to the project will be approximately 35-50 hours.
