Incorporates a number of different disciplines, including film, fiction, dance, music and art. The student will develop and awareness of the social and historical contexts in which manifestations of popular culture have developed in various regions of Latin America. Readings will focus on the analysis of popular representations of history, gender, sexuality, racial and religious hybrid identities, tradition, modernity, social class, and religion.
