An approved project involving design, implementation, and analysis, or theoretical investigation is required of all students in the Master of Science degree program who do not take CIS 701 Master's Thesis. A project proposal must be submitted in a prior semester by an announced date and receive faculty approval. Project work is normally initiated in a computer science course with the knowledge and approval of the instructor who will become the student's project advisor.

The work will be carried out under the supervision of a designated member of the faculty. The thesis should be of such caliber as to warrant publication in a technical or scientific journal. Approval to register for the thesis must be obtained from the thesis advisor. A student must register for a minimum of 3 credits per semester. Credit will be limited, however, to the 6 credits indicated for the thesis.
