Topics include basic exposure manipulation, composition, relation to common art concepts, and an introduction to Adobe Photoshop. A digital SLR camera and a USB "thumb drive" are required. A fixed focal length lens in the range of35-50mm is highly recommended. Prerequisite: Art 111, Lab fee.

The course begins with an intensive study of art and the creative development of young children and the principles and practices appropriate for elementary students. Studio experiences in a variety of two and three dimensional art media provide a necessary foundation. Students are then guided in curriculum development, lesson planning, and appropriate teaching and assessment strategies in preparation for a four week, team teaching field experience that provides for implementation of curriculum theory.
