PostRN student: This course must be taken in the final semester of the program. Prerequisites: Admission to School Nurse Certificate Program or permission of instructor. Description: Provides theory and skills to assist the registered nurse in fulfilling the multiple roles of the school nursing in K-12 settings. Developed in collaboration with the Educational Professional Standards Board of the Kentucky Department of Education. Clinical practicum may be completed at school of employment.

A study of the research process with emphasis on critical analysis and evaluation of selected research findings for application to professional nursing practice.

Application and integration of advanced medical-surging nursing concepts to provide holistic nursing care to the high acuity patient.

Application and integration of previous knowledge and skills in the delivery of nursing care to multiple clients in a variety of health care settings to provide holistic care to clients experiencing alterations in mental health. (Grading: Pass/Fail)

Prerequisite: Completion of all junior level nursing courses. Description: Interpretation of basic cardiac dysrhthmias and hemodynamic waveforms, application of principles and techniques and recommended interventions.
