A survey of the archaeological evidence for religions throughout the world, from the earliest expressions of spirituality to the modern world religions. Emphasis is placed on the archaeological evidence for recognizing religious expressions in general, and for the emergence of modern world religions. Archaeological interpretations of New World, African, and Australian religions will be considered in comparative perspective. Fieldwork to a house of worship or cemetery will be required. Prerequisite: ARC 150 or permission of instructor. (Same as ARC 395.)
