Athletic Training Administration. (3) Development and administration of an athletic training program including employment, documentation, budget, and facilities. Writing Instruction in the Discipline (WID) course. Prerequisites: permission of the program director; Eng 280. Athletic Training Professional Preparation. (1) Preparation, practice, and assessment of educational competencies and clinical proficiencies in athletic training. Prerequisites: AT 401 and permission of the program director.

An internship with an approved affiliated site, under the supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer; designed for the practical application of knowledge and theory in a professional setting. Admission to the ATEP and permission of the program director.

Integrates the study of international business or technology with international travel. Focuses on preparing students for the global environment of the 21st century. Only 3 s.h. can be applied toward the International Business minor. Prerequisite: permission of instructor.

Laws covering the broadcast/cable industry in America from the Communication Act of 1934 to the present. Ethical considerations faced by broadcasters and cablecasters. Writing Instruction in the Discipline (WID) course. Prerequisites: BC 321, 323; Eng 180 and 280; senior standing; or permission of instructor. Radio and TV Sports Production. (1-3, repeatable to 6) Theory and practice of remote radio and television sports production and editing techniques. Prerequisites: BC 100, 101, 102, and either 250 or 261; Eng 180 and 280. Broadcast Internship. (3) Senior practicum at a selected professional broadcast production center for a semester. In addition to a prescribed work schedule, the intern must submit regular station activity reports. Prerequisites: BC 100, 101, 102, and 200 or 250 or 261; Eng 180 and 280; permission of internship coordinator; 2.50 GPA. Graded S/U only. Multimedia Design for Mass Media. (3) A study of the theory and practical application of multimedia-based journalism using digitized video, audio, text, computer graphics, and interactivity. Emphasis on broadcast communication and communication design principles using software for composing multimedia portfolios. Prerequisites: Eng 180 and 280; BC 200, BC 250 OR 261, or consent of the instructor. An understanding of Adobe PhotoShop recommended.

Students will write a senior honors thesis. This course may not be taken concurrently with BC 400. Prerequisites: BC 400; Eng 180 and 280; students must be in good standing in the Centennial Honors College and must be seniors majoring in broadcasting. Advanced Broadcast Writing. (3) Students will write longer and more complex screenplays. Students will see projects through from idea through revisions to completed scripts. Regular critiques of student writing. Prerequisite: BC 302 with a grade of C or better.

Bibliographic and other preliminary work in preparation for a senior honors thesis (see BC 401). Students will produce a final, graded project for this course. This course may not be taken concurrently with BC 401. Prerequisites: Eng 180 and 280; students must be in good standing in the Centennial Honors College and must be second-semester juniors or first-semester seniors majoring in broadcasting.

Introduction to the historical, programming, physical, legal, social, and economic aspects of broadcasting and cable. IAI: MC 914. ( formerly BC 223) Introduction to Broadcast Production. (3) An introduction to basic audio/video production techniques. Students learn skills necessary to perform studio- and remote-camera operation, basic lighting, audio recording, and basic video and audio editing. Introduction to Broadcast Research and Writing. (3) Course focuses on finding, researching, and presenting material for a variety of media, purposes, and audiences. Includes study of interviewing, writing, and copy editing skills and library use. Prerequisites: BC 100; BC 101 with a grade of C or better.

Hands-on instruction in the gathering, writing, and presentation of news and information for television, radio, and online media. Prerequisite: BC 102.
