This capstone seminar course consolidates and integrates the many different functions, concepts, and decision-making practices within the supply chain. A case study approach helps students understand the development, value adding and important linkages in a distribution channel. Topics include strategic alliances, business strategy implications, customer service, and innovation.

An overview and analysis of the various information management technology resources used in a firm146s supply chain. The course will examine the various source data capture hardware, communication applications, database products, and planning tools used in today146s decision-making within distribution systems. Topics include an overview of warehouse management systems, Enterprise Resource Planning, routing/dispatch software, shipment tracing, and satellite tracking.

An overview of practices, theories, and concepts with the return flow of goods, services, and information. Topics include handling returns in an e-commerce environment, return goods control methods and freight claims prevention.

A survey of critical human resources issues surrounding the hiring and training of qualified personnel in a global marketplace. Topics include managing in a diverse work environment, ADA, establishment of safe and effective working conditions, legal issues in human resource management, and ethical/social issues of outsourcing.

A final team project presentation and paper to demonstrate the integration of all aspects of the program. Subjects will be developed and approved in cooperation with the cohort146s faculty team.

An introduction to the K-12 teaching profession. Includes an introduction to the department's conceptual framework, expectations, and requirements that lead to teacher certification in Illinois. Students will begin to develop specific academic plans. Prerequisite/Concurrent: EDU 104. Pass/No Pass grading. Music education majors take MUS 320 instead of SEC 200.

An introductin to the characteristics of children with cognitive, social, emotional, and physical disabilities. Includes educational principles, methods, and materials that may be useful in meeting the varying needs of learners with disabilities. Prerequisite/concurrent EDU 104.

Supports teacher candidates in creating reflective portfolios that demonstrate links between courses in education and content areas with professional standards, department goals, and field experiences. The seminar focus is on diversity in schools. Field experiences in tutoring students in high needs settings are required. Participation in individual conferences and a formal evaluation of the protfolio before continuing in a teacher education program is required. This course should not be taken during the same term as SEC 200 without the approval of the Director of Secondary Education. Prerequisite: SEC 200. Music Education majors take MUS 369 instead of SEC 300. Pass/No Pass grading.

An introduction to the psychological principles and theories of human development, learning, and motivation in K-12 educational settings. Includes the study of educational research, child and adolescent development, developmentally appropriate and instructional best practices, individual differences, learning environment, and assessment. Prerequisite: PSY 210

An advanced study of the developmental reading process at the secondary-school level, including examination of theories and practical applications for the middle school and senior high school teacher. Includes methods and procedures used to develop skills, attitudes, knowledge, and understanding of content area reading material. Prerequisites: SEC 300.
