This course will prepare Psychology students and students in related fields who will be applying to graduate programs in Psychology for the GRE Revised General Test. The course will have the following emphases: (1) familiarizing students with the structure of the tests; (2) building vocabulary; (3) reviewing and practicing using the skills and knowledge commonly tested; (4) learning strategies to improve performance on each component of the test; and (5) completing a wide range of practice questions. Students will complete several practice tests and practice test sections throughout the course so that they can track their improvement as well as identify areas that require further practice and study. Prerequisites: PSYC 201, PSYC 207, one 300-level PSYC course; Junior level status; Instructor' s Permission. Credit, one hour.

Students will complete several practice tests and practice test sections throughout the course so that they can track their improvement as well as identify areas that require further practice and study. Prerequisites: PSYC 201, PSYC 207, one 300-level PSYC course; Junior level status; Instructor' s permission. Credit, one hour.

This course will allow students to address similarities and differences among various culturally diverse groups. The course is designed to present an overview of issues and methods that will serve as a guide to developing multicultural competence, which provides the student with the fundamental knowledge, experiences, sensitivity, and attitude necessary to understand, communicate, and to effectively treat culturally diverse populations.Credit, three hours.

Alcohol and Drug Counseling II is a one semester course, which provides an in depth overview of individual and group counseling as it relates to alcohol and drug recovery. Particular emphasis will be placed on client education, evidence-based culturally competent counseling, documentation, and soical support during recovery. This course provides 45 educational hours toward CADC certification and recertification. Pre-req: PSYC 200.

Drug and Alcohol Counseling- Treatment Planning and Relapse Prevention is a one semester course, which provides an in depth overview of treatment planning, collaboration and referral as they relate to alcohol and drug counseling. Special attention will be paid to relapse prevention and referrals. This course provides 45 educational hours toward CADC certification or recertification. Prerequisites- PSYC 200 Introduction to Alcohol & Drug Counseling and PSYC 309 Assessment of Alcohol and Drug Addiction or current CADC

Drug and Alcohol Counseling-Professional, Legal, and Ethical Responsibilities is a one semester course, which provides an in depth overview of professional, legal and ethical responsibilities as they relate to alcohol and drug counseling. Specific emphasis will be placed on diversity, professional development, referrals, documentation, confidentiality, consent, and the professional code of ethics and standards of practice. This course provides 45 educational hours toward CADC certification or recertification. Drug and Alcohol Counseling-Special Topics is a one semester course which provides training and education in an area of concern and interest to alcohol and drug counselors. The specific topics to be offered will provide education related to best practices recognized. This course provides 45 educational hours toward CADC certification or recertification. The objectives of this course are to provide students with a broad overview of the dominant theories and research in the areas of learning and motivation. Students will experience some classic experiments in this area of psychology through computer simulation and classroom demonstrations.Prerequisites: PSYC 201, PSYC 207, PSYC 325, MTSC 101, MTSC 102.Credit, three hours.

A course designed to treat counseling theories and provide actual experience with the counseling process. Counseling approaches from the following systems of personality and therapy will be considered: Reality Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, Rogerian Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, and Psychoanalytic Therapy. Students will participate in a group counseling experience supervised by the Instructor.Prerequisites: PSYC 201, PSYC 411.Credit, three hours.
