    A course designed for the advancing paramedic student to gain competency in pre-hospital intervention and monitoring skills. The student will learn and practice IV cannulation, intubation techniques, IV medication and infusion techniques, chest decompression, and ECG monitor operation. The student will also be familiarized with equipment commonly used for patient transfers including ventilators and intravenous pumps. Students will practice basic patient assessment techniques integrating materials learned in prerequisite courses. (PR: EME130, PAR210, PAR241 PAR251, CO: PAR252)

Under the super- vision of the clinical preceptors, the student will practice IV cannulation, intubation techniques, IV medication and infusion techniques, and chest decompression. The student will also be familiarized with equipment commonly used for patient transfers including ventilators and intravenous pumps. Students will practice basic patient assessment techniques integrating materials learned in co-requisite courses. Student will complete and document approximately 132 hours of field and hospital rotation. (PR: PAR210, PAR241, PAR251, EME281)
