Students are introduced to the role of the nurse as the provider of care to clients in specialty settings across the lifespan. Specific focus is on health promotion during common processes for women, children, infants and families as well as health restoration for individuals experiencing alterations in psychosocial needs. Emphasis is placed on caring communication, teaching and learning and identifying and responding to health alterations. Students will have opportunities to practice skills in the clinical and laboratory settings. Learning activities will take place in a variety of simulations, direct care clinical and community settings providing the student with a rich and diverse experience.
