EDS 357: Initial Practicum in Special Education

An introductory supervised field experience for special education majors. Students will participate in two special education programs as teacher aides. Placements will include public schools and other agencies serving children with disabilities. May be repeated to a maximum of three credits. Lecture, one hour; field experience, three hours per week. The course will prepare general education elementary teachers to collaborate with special education teachers and other professionals in planning and implementing instruction, behavioral supports, and assessments. Prereq: Admission to Teacher Education Program in Elementary Education, completion of EDP 303, and concurrent enrollment in EDC 322.
