PSYCH 495P: Animal Research Practicum
3.00 Credits
Pennsylvania State University-Main Campus
The primary objective of this course is to provide students with a unique hands-on experience conducting research with nonhuman primates. Within this objective are three main goals: 1) to familiarize students to the day-to-day work involved in conducting behavioral experiments with animals; 2) to increase student's knowledge of select topics in animal communication and cognition. This course builds on material taught in PSYCH 268 (Animal Minds), though that course is not a prerequisite; and 3) to provide students with experience reading and evaluating primary source scientific papers, with the eventual goal of having the students author their own APA-style paper at the end of the course.
