An introduction to the theory and practice of small group structure and process, with consideration of relevant research, Cohesiveness, conformity, power, inter-group and intro-group conflict and cooperation are studies as aspects of group structure and process. Students observe and participate in small group processes. Prerequisite: RPS 211. (Social Science General Education Course).

This course examines how people can keep themselves healthy, as well as research in the field of health management from theory to practical application. The approach is biopsychosocial, beginning with an overview of the systems of the body, followed by exploration of health related behaviors, health compromising behaviors, stress and coping, pain management, and patient-provider relations, among other related topics. While social and psychological components comprise much of the investigation, the biological basis of health and disease is the orienting focus of the course, with a major emphasis on the understanding and reduction of stress.
