This course invites students to be active, critical readers, to read with purpose, and to use writing as a way to solve problems and to re-envision the world through the lens of writers who have helped to shape modern thought. Students will gain knowledge and understanding of key literary movements, concepts, and works in British literature from the Middle Ages, the Early Modern Period, and the Restoration and the Eighteenth century by reading poems, letters, essays, and novels.
