Students explore valuable information on normal and pathological states of the peripheral vascular, cerebrovascular and abdominal vascular systems. During laboratory, students utilize classroom theory in examining various vascular systems.     This clinical course offers the student experience in developing clinical skills in recognizing pathology or abnormal anatomy. The student will have the opportunity to maintain skills previously learned and to continue to develop new scanning skills. The student will continue to develop skills in the progression and completion of the examination. The student will begin to become independent of the clinical supervisor in the performance of the ultrasound examination. The student will assist in portable examinations and special procedures.     This course provides ultrasound students specializing in vascular ultrasound with foundational knowledge and skills for abdominal/OB/GYN and cardiac sonography. Anatomy and basic physiology of the abdominal organs, female pelvis, pregnancy and heart are reviewed and correlated with their sonographic characteristics. Scanning techniques of the abdominal organs, female pelvis and heart are presented and practiced in the lab.     This course focuses on the ultrasonic investigation of the heart. Echocardiography is viewed from both an historical, as well as state-of-the-art perspective.
