This courses builds on the prerequisite(s)s VIS214 and VIS381. However, the mediums of paint and clay are introduced into this class to expose the student to a new medium approach to representing the human figure. Approximately one-quarter of the class is devoted to three dimensional representation of the figure through modeling the nude figure in clay. The remaining three-quarters of the class is devoted to the medium of painting the nude and clothed human figure. Prerequisite(s) VIS 214, VIS 381 (2,2) 3 credits

This course will build upon prior knowledge and experience with digital images to help students broaden their understanding and creative use of digital imaging concepts and techniques. Topics will relate to graphic design, illustration, print production and web page design applications. Prerequisite(s): VIS 310 (2,2) 3 credits

The theoretical and practical exploration of the fundamentals of twodimensional design, layout and typography as they pertain to web site design. Students will visit many different types and styles of web sites and learn to analyze them for creative design, organization of content, flow and navigation. By visiting and discussing sites that are well-designed as well as those that are poorly designed, students will themselves become better web site designers. Prerequisite(s): VIS 150 or VIS 210, and VIS 310. (2,2) 3 credits

To bring together into a visual and written format, the scope of study, and further concentration into an area of the students own choosing. This course focuses on the creative process. Students are encouraged to explore aspects of illustration and graphic design with special emphasis on historical stylistic approaches and their application in the communication arts today. Prerequisite(s): VIS 310 (2,2) 3 credits

An overview of the visual communication business and how their skills and creativity are balanced by the business objective of profit. This course is intended for students pursuing a career within an agency setting, design studio, production facility or corporate in-house situation. This course will also establish a basic understanding of the requirements needed to operate as a freelance artist. Prerequisite(s): VIS 312 (2,0) 2 credits

The application of the principles of typography, layout and graphic design pages for the World Wide Web. Students will explore some of the myriad possibilities offered by this exciting medium. The technology that drives the Internet is constantly changing, so this will be a dynamic course adapted to the current applications, browsers, plug-ins, and information delivery technologies. This course will have both a survey and hands-on approach. Prerequisite(s): VIS 310 and VIS 412. (2,2) 3 credits

This course focuses on creating visual imagery related to the research and development of an original concept selected by the student. Students should consult with the instructor, and create a preliminary proposal, before the course begins. Each student will produce a series of professional quality works of art, which will be displayed in a senior exhibition. Prerequisite(s): VIS 370, VIS 372, VIS 474 (2,2) 3 credits

In this course, students will gain valuable experience by working on actual projects for selected not-for-profit clients. This pro-bono work will provide students the opportunity to develop professional quality samples for their portfolios, while further developing skills in design, production, presentation, and job-tracking. Interpersonal and communication skills within a corporate environment will be emphasized. Prerequisite(s): VIS 372 (2,2) 3 credits

This course covers advanced topics of pre-press production processes and techniques. Emphasis will be on pre-flighting of print jobs, the production cycle, and the various materials and processes utilized in printing and finishing. Prerequisite(s): VIS 324 (2,2) 3 credits
