This course includes analysis of solvents, particulates, industrial dermatoses, industrial noise, ionizing radiation, nonionizing radiation, temperature extremes, biological hazards, and indoor air quality issues. A study of methods with which to evaluate exposures to hazardous substances; a detailed analysis of control programs; and an examination of environmental protection acts and amendments are also included. This course covers the basics of customer relations and quality in industry and includes discussion of quality management principles and standards as well as communication techniques such as questionnaires to measure and assure customer satisfaction. The American Customer Satisfaction Index, J. D. Power and Associates Reports; Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award; International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9000) Standards; and Automotive Quality (QS-9000) Standards will be discussed in the context of customer services and managerial responsibilities.
