This course has as its goal to explore the interrelationship between the church and contemporary culture. Students examine the cultural changes that have shaped our understanding of ourselves and our world in the 20th century in the light of the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World and related documents. Students discover the causes of the present conflict between Christian and secular cultures and learn to value the contribution of each perspective on human life as they look to the 21st century.
