HIST 396: Entrepreneurship in the Genesee Valley
3.00 Credits
Saint John Fisher University
This course considers the importance of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in the area from the early nineteenth century speculators, millers and risk-takers to the corporate moguls and incubator beneficiaries of the twentieth century. Just as much of recent history has moved away from an emphasis on individual accomplishment, the significance of individual entrepreneurship can be lost in our own corporate business environment. However, intensive study into the work, achievements, and thinking of entrepreneurs in their community settings can yield insights into the development of the economic structure as well as the social fabric.
