hours. Topics include atomic structure, physical properties of gases, nomenclature, molecular bonding and geometry, mass relationships in chemical equations, and thermochemistry. Because the course assumes adequate knowledge of algebra, the following is strongly recommended: prior completion or current enrollment in Mathematics 111 or higher, or a mathematics SAT score of 510 or higher, or an ACT score of at least 21. Co-requisite: concurrent enrollment in 105L, or consent of instructor or chairperson.

hour. A weekly three-hour series of experiments designed to illustrate lecture topics from 105 and to develop laboratory techniques. Co-requisite: concurrent enrollment in 105 or consent of instructor or chairperson.

hours. Continuation of 105 with chemical kinetics, elementary thermodynamics, aqueous equilibria, electrochemistry, and physical properties of solids, liquids, and solutions. Prerequisites: 105, 105L, and concurrent enrollment in 106L or consent of instructor or chairperson.

hour. A series of experiments designed to illustrate lecture topics from 106 and qualitative analysis. Prerequisites: 105, 105L, and concurrent enrollment in 106, or consent of instructor or chairperson.

hours. An introduction to analysis of various contemporary media and their relationship with American popular culture. Emphasis will include aesthetics and effects of media relative to economic, political, and social messages, with the intent of developing literate consumers of media. 3 hours. The course includes production experiences and lecture-discussions with professionals in the field. For mature high school students who have completed at least six semesters of high school work.

hour. Provides on campus experiential learning for students in a variety of areas. Students will be involved in a practical, “hand s on learning environment. Prerequisites:completed contract and permission of instructor. Course is repeatable to a combined total of 2 hours.

hours. A survey of the historical significance and social impact of various media, radio, television, film, advertising, and the Internet, and including issues of media convergence, representation, commercialism, and globalization.
