hours. Introduction to basic aircraft systems found on modern single and multi-engine reciprocating aircraft. Topics will include piston engines, electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, radios and instruments, propellers, maintenance requirements and documentation, and trouble shooting from the cockpit. Prerequisites: 141 and 143; or consent of instructor.

hours. An introduction to the pilot’s responsibilities regarding aircraft maintenance and inspections in addition to training on pilot-performed maintenance procedures allowed by federal regulations. Class involves significant experiential learning in areas such as safety wire techniques, nonstructural sheet metal repair, composite repair, hydraulic servicing, painting, battery servicing, etc. Prerequisites: private pilot certificate and 211 or consent of instructor.

hours. An introduction to the aviation weather service program. Course includes the National Weather Service, Flight Service Stations, ICAO, and analyzing and interpreting of weather reports and charts.

hours. Advanced navigation systems to include HSIs, RMIs, Loran, Doppler, Omega, and GPS. Will include navigation theory, in-flight emergencies, electronic instruments, and advance flight computing problems. Prerequisite: 143 or consent of instructor.

hour. Students must enroll in this course while pursuing the Instrument/Commercial Certificate. Course completion requirements: 40 flight hours beyond the Private Pilot Certificate. Prerequisite: Private Pilot’s Certificate or consent of instructor.

hours. An introduction to flight under IFR conditions. Course includes basic instrument flying, flight instruments, IFR charts and approach plates, IFR regulations and procedures, ATC clearances, and IFR flight planning. Prerequisite: 241 or consent of instructor.

hour. Students must enroll in this course while pursuing the Instrument/Commercial Certificate. Course completion requirements: Instrument Rating or 145 total flight hours.

hours. An introduction to commercial flight operations. Course includes advanced aircraft performance and charts, aircraft pressurization systems, weight and balance, commercial operations, commercial/instrument flight publications and regulations, and advance flight planning. Prerequisite: 241 or consent of instructor.

hours. The highlights, key events, and technological advancements of the aerospace industry. The historic coverage concentrates on the human effort to fly within the earth’s atmosphere and beyond.
