hour. Students will function in supervisory positions in University Theater productions. Crew responsibilities include property, wardrobe, lighting and sound supervisors, stage managers, and assistant directors. Students may enroll twice for credit.

hours. A study of artistic styles and how they affected styles in theater and dance. Beginning with the Greeks, students will study philosophical, historical, and artistic aspects that have contributed to the style of each period. By reading plays, looking at art and fashion, and studying dance movement, students will be introduced to their influence on each period style and how one style informs, opposes, or creates the next.

hour. The study of stage management through lectures and discussions. Stage management assignment through Department of Theater productions required.

hours. Exploration into the director’s art and craft, with particular focus on the fundamentals of proscenium staging of dramatic and comic texts that are primarily based in realism. Prerequisites: 101, 191, or consent of instructor.

6.00 Credits
hours. This course focuses on developing voice quality, volume, and expressiveness by enhancing the use of the entire body, the larger mechanism for the human voice. Techniques for releasing into natural alignment, increasing overall coordination, and freeing natural breathing will be practiced, and then applied through speaking poems and monologues. Since this course has rotating content, students may repeat this course for a maximum of three times over three semesters, for a maximum of 6 credits. Prerequisite: 250 or permission of the instructor.

hours. This course focuses on the development of fundamental physical skills including release, flexibility, responsiveness, alignment, expressivity, specificity, and commitment. Since this course has rotating content, students may repeat this course for a maximum of three times over three semesters, for a maximum of 6 credits. Prerequisite: 250 or permission of the instructor.

hours. A survey of history and literature of the Contemporary and Avant-garde theater.

3 hours. Advanced projects in one topic area: A. Acting and Performance; B. Design and Technology; C. Management; D. Playwriting; E. Directing; and F. History, Theory, Literature, and Dramaturgy. Students must contract with a faculty advisor. Can be repeated for up to 6 hours.
