A study of the systems development life cycle with emphasis on the principles of structure analysis, focusing on both traditional system design and prototyping approaches. A case tool will be used for the analysis and design phases, including developing a relational or object oriented prototype. Topics include project management, feasibility studies, entity-relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, use-case process descriptions, system flowcharting and other system modeling tools. Students will study an existing information system and prepare specifications for a new logical system design. A working prototype will be designed as a group project. Prerequisites: CIS 302 and CIS 321. Fall
