This course examines the various types of formal organizations (e.g. bureaucratic, corporate and voluntary) in terms of their origins, relations to society and their internal operations. Specific topics of study include: women and the organization, motivation and control, alternative strategies of organizational structure, impact of organizations on society and the individual.
