The College of Saint Rose
A student teaching experience is required of all students seeking secondary school provisional certification. Students are supervised by a cooperating teacher in the school district and a College supervisor. Evaluation is based upon demonstration ofcompetencies described in the secondary teacher preparation program. Prerequisites: EDU 504, EPY 502, EPY 523, SEC 519, a content-specific methods course, EDU 603 (or equivalent), EDU 606, EDU 637 (or equivalent), OPTs and for non-matriculation certification students EDU 501 or EDU 512 is also a prerequisite. Applications must be made by Feb. 1 for those who wish to register for fall; by Oct. 1 for those who wish to register for spring. Each student will receive two consecutive placements: one-half semester in grades 7-9 and one-half semester in grades 10-12. Co-requisite: SEC 585. Open to CSR majors only. Fall, Spring

The College of Saint Rose
A field experience, selected in cooperation with faculty in the department fo Teacher Education, designed to meet the indivdual needs of the student. Possible alternatives include in-service supervised teaching experiences, presentations of simulated teaching experiences, supervised advanced tutorials, and a reading practicum. A syllabus for this experience must be devised with cooperation and approval of the faculty advisor and the course mentor prior to registration for the course. Open to CSD students only. Offered occasionally by indivdual request.

Community (4) A course designed to provide students with a life-span understanding of individuals with disabilities and exceptionalities, the similarities and differences that occur among individuals who are defined as exceptional, and how these variations relate to typical development. Legal, historical and cultural perspectives of disability within our culture are provided as students evaluate current issues in the field. Topics related to working with families and children from diverse backgrounds including those wih limited English proficiency are included. The type and range of services available within national, state and local communities are examined. A 21-hour field experience is required. One credit is earned through participation in, and implementation of class content within a field experience. Fall, Spring
