Are you responsible for the publicity function in your daily work activities or as a volunteer for your non-profit organization? A key to your success is knowing how to deal with the media appropriately and effectively so that you maximize your publicity efforts and have successful outcomes. This course if for those with little or no training or knowledge about basic publicity writing. You'll learn how to successfully prepare the essential elements of a press kit: fact sheets, biographical sheets, flyers, brochures, organizational histories, position papers and question and answer sheets, including the cornerstone of any press kit -- the news release. In addition to case study writing assignments, students will have the opportunity to use information from their professional and/or volunteer worlds to create materials for their actual use. Special Note: This course can be very useful to those needing basic skills to handle publicity efforts for their organizations through the use of press kits and news releases.
