Participants spend 12 hours working hands on in a computer lab with an expert instructor. Beginning with building simple spreadsheets, the course culminates with the creation of PivotTables and macros and the integration of Excel with other computer applications.

    This course covers the key differences between Office 2007 and earlier versions of Office. The most obvious change, from menu bars and tool bars to the new Ribbon concept, is presented first so participants become accustomed to the new interface. Emphasis is placed on backward and forward compatibility with previous versions of Office. Feature changes to the Office system as a whole are covered next, focusing on new features present in most of the individual programs in the Office 2007 suite. Finally, each major program (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook) is featured with coverage in three main areas: what¿s new, what¿s changed, and coping with what¿s been removed.

    Introduction to Office 2003 focuses on the basic concepts of three software components of Office ¿ Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. In Word, you will work with business letters, memos, press releases, and reports. Proper business document formatting is an important theme throughout the course. You will learn to use formatting tools, tables, and automatic features to enhance your documents. In Excel, you will create and edit spreadsheets by entering data, formatting the data, and using formulas to do automatic calculations. You will also learn to enhance your spreadsheets with charting tools to present the data in line graphs, pie charts, bar charts, and more. In PowerPoint, you will create presentations using templates and layouts, format the presentation, and learn to import pictures, charts, and graphics. You will also learn to add animation and transitions to the presentation and to incorporate speaker notes into the presentation. The workshop assumes participants understand how to use a mouse and drop-down menus, save files to some type of storage media, and perform other basic skills required to run Windows programs. Upon completion of this course, you will be well prepared for the concepts introduced in our Intermediate courses.
