General topics will include real property concepts and characteristics, influences on real estate value, legal considerations, types of value, economic principles, real estate markets and analysis, valuation process, residential applications, sales comparison and income approaches to appraisal, and property definition and highest and best-use analysis.

The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) are the generally accepted standards for professional appraisal practice in North America. USPAP contains standards for all types of appraisal services. Standards are included for real estate, personal property, business and mass appraisal.
