In this 3-session class we will talk about the clutter of ¿stuff¿ that tends to accumulate. We have clutter in our physical lives, thought processes and in our minds, and clutter in our habits and lifestyles. Together we will identify areas in which clutter is present in our lives, discuss the impact of clutter on each of us as individuals, and develop an action plan for organizing and shedding the clutter. Our goal is to move from cluttered to uncluttered, organized and simplified, and have fun in making new friends along the way.

Carries, information syncing, how to access and use audio, video, basic phone applications, and how to maintain your phone and your phone plan will be all covered. Students will learn to not only get the most out of their own phones, but also understand emerging technologies, models, carries, and features common to all phones.

By using a method called ¿thin-layer chromatography,¿ you test to see what types of over-the-counter medicines, aspirin, ibuprofen. and others, are in an unknown sample. To assist you with this method of analyzing, you begin by testing different types of inks. Class discussion focuses on which of the many medicines work best for fever, headaches, and other ailments.

Learn the essential skills you need to survive in a remote and/or stranded condition. In this course, you will learn how to shape your attitudes so you react appropriately during emergencies. You will develop a survival kit; learn the proper usage of a map and a compass; discover the secret to making fire without matches or lighters; share in the construction of a solar still; learn how to purify any water source; understand how to construct shelter; identify a wide variety of wild plants that can be used as survival foods; find out how to fish, hunt, and trap for protein; understand a variety of effective uses of cordage; and more.

Watercolor painting is fun and rewarding, and this course is designed specifically as an introduction for the very beginning student. The basics of the art will be covered, including perspective and composition, papers, brushes, and paints. Traditional and experimental techniques will be presented, and students will complete a painting, ready to be matted and framed. Students will be asked to work on projects outside the classroom, and gentle critiques and advice will be provided. For the first class, students should bring 140# watercolor paper, and any brushes and watercolors they have on hand. The instructor will provide a complete list of supplies needed for the remaining classes.

Students will explore new techniques and styles, and discussion of the basics of perspective, composition, and color will continue. Students will be asked to work on projects outside the classroom, and gentle critiques and advice will be provided. Note: If students have some experience in watercolor, it is not necessary to have taken Part I. Previous students may follow the instructor or bring their own paintings. For the first class, students should bring 140# watercolor paper and any brushes and watercolors they have on hand.
